FUNDRAISING
Expenses over the last few years have continued to rise and the expenses for our growing program are considerable with the majority of them being fixed. Our Board members are all volunteers and we try very hard to hold down the costs of the program to allow more families to participate. Your registration fee does not cover the costs to operate our program alone. By fundraising we are able to offset the cost of equipment, safety upgrades, uniforms and field maintenance while keeping our cost affordable.
The fundraising requirement for 2012 will be determined after July 1, 2012.
Why wait until after July 1, 2012? There are two reasons. First, we are working on Sponsorships for 2012; if we are successful it will reduce the dollar amount we have to fundraise. Second, the requirement is less with more players and we will have a better idea on how many players to expect after July 1st.
Want to help reduce costs to play for HYFA? There are a couple of things that parents can do to help reduce costs:
- Sponsors: if you own a company or work for a company you think would be interested in becoming a sponsor for HYFA, please contact Jay Johnstone, our Director of Sponsors at sponsors@hilhiyouthfootball.com.
- Recruit more athletes to play. This is the single, most effective way to reduce fees. Ask your neighbors, your friends, your child's friends. The more players we have, the cheaper it is to play. Our goal for 2012 is 160 kids, however we have to fundraise $200 per player at 160 kids; at 185 we can reduce the fuindraising requirement to $150. The last 4+ years we have had 130-135 kids, which requires us to fundraise $250.
- Attend the off-season fundraisers. We recently held a fundraiser at Godfather's Pizza; we are planning another one for April at another location. Your participation in these is an affordable way to help the program. Most families eat out a couple times a month; plan to go when our league is partnering with a local restaurant. You spend time with your family and the league receives 10-20% of the sales. Tell your friends, family and co-workers about these events! Make them successful and it will reduce your fees to play!
