SAFETY COACH REQUIREMENTS

  • The Safety Coach's main focus is specifically the safety of the team. This person must not be the Head Coach or play a role as a Defensive/Offensive Coordinator. They may be an Assistant Coach. 
  • Medically trained professionals are highly encouraged.
  • This person will work with the Director of Player Safety and be responsible for the safety of the players and submitting weekly Injury Reports.

Please read the below requirements thoroughly.

We have both online and in-person trainings that need to be completed.

Coaches will not be able to take the field, until ALL requirements are completed.

1) REGISTER ONLINE2023 TVYFL Coach Registration

2) BACKGROUND CHECK: Link will be sent via email after registration or you can log into your Sports Engine account.

3) COMPLETE ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING: Included with Registration - Link will be sent via email or you can check your Sports Engine account.  This is an ONLINE training.  (If you are also registered as an Assistant Coach, this training will be provided with your USA Coaches Training).

  • Be prepared to dedicate a little over an hour into this training. This can be done altogether or at different times. There is no skipping or fast-forwarding sections.
  • If you are a returning coach/staff and have been previously certified, your account should be recognized and will just need to complete re-certification.  Training valid for 2 years.

You will receive a Certificate upon completion. It will be emailed to you.  Please email it to registrar@hilhiyouthfootball.com once complete. 

4) COMPLETE CONCUSSION TRAINING:

The Safety Coach, like all coaches on the team, are required to complete concussion training. If a Safety Coach does not do the USA Football HeadsUp tackle training (as an Assistant Coach), they can do the USA Football Crashcourse: Concussion Education.

  • You must have/create an account with USA Football.  Go to https://account.usafootball.com/login and make sure "Hillsboro Youth Football - TVYFL" is your organization. 
  • Go to your dashboard and find "Certification & Courses". Click "Take Me There".
  • Find "Crashcourse: Concussion Education (Coach)".  Click "Add". 
  • You will receive a certificate upon completion. This certificate must be turned in to the Registrar.

5) BE FIRST AID / CPR CERTIFIED:

  • FIRST AID / CPR: Per TVYFL, the Head Coach, an Assistant Coach, and Safety Coach/Coordinator must be certified. If you attend this session the cost is covered by HYFA; if you choose to not attend this session you will be responsible for the cost and you will not be reimbursed.

6) ATTEND TVYFL & HYFA TRAININGS

  •  SAFETY COORDINATOR MEETING
    • August 23rd, 6pm @ Hilhi
  • TVYFL COACHES MEETING & TEST
    • Choose one date - Zoom Link can be found on TVYFL's website under Calendar
      • Sunday August 6th, 2:00pm - 4:30pm
      • Sunday August 27th, 2:00pm - 4:30pm

All training & certifications must be completed and verified before you can take the field as a coach!
